There is a saying that came from a bright CEO some years ago that has always stayed with me. “What we don’t know can hurt us. What we are sure is true, but isn’t actually so, has the power to destroy us.”
At the start of the Korean War, the U.S. military didn’t worry about the Chinese joining the fight because there was no sign they were crossing the border into North Korea. We depended on new satellite technology (which the Chinese out maneuvered) and failed to post lookouts. The U.S. was completely surprised and overwhelmed by the forces they confronted.
Over the last 40 years our excellence in business growth, education, healthcare delivery and income growth has slowed markedly compared to other countries throughout the world. We are still growing, but at a pace slower than many of our trading partners.
I was visiting with a friend recently who has been a leader in the spurt of economic development in our area of Northern Indiana over the past few years. He expressed pride in the pace of development here, knows we are capable of much better. We are still behind the average growth rate of the United States as a whole and are losing ground. He worries that the area could lose its ability to attract new economic activity. He works with intelligent, responsible people every day, and can’t quite get a handle on why there is such complacency when there are still challenges that face our community.
When he meets with his colleagues, they all optimistically point to the economic projects ongoing, as well they should. We all should be happy about our successes in the past decade. But refuse to look at the education, healthcare, substandard wages and poverty isn’t doing any of us favors. This complacency is not unlike our Korean War surprise. Are we just looking at being “good enough”? Such an attitude has major negative consequences.
We have the talent, experience, knowledge and resources to create far more growth and economic vibrancy than we are creating now, to rebuild an entrepreneur and business class that is second to none.
We have seen a coaching client turn a failing “notions shop” into a million-dollar enterprise in three short years. We have coached an exceptional woman successfully create and grow her marketing company. We have coached a logistics manager working for a mid-sized company add almost $1 million to his company’s bottom line in less than a year. Excellence is bubbling up everywhere. As a nation, we have every opportunity to excel, and simply aren’t choosing to fully express it.
This is why we are so inspired to bring strong self-awareness coaching and training to businesses and individuals throughout the area. We see how transformative our online course and coaching for strong self-awareness development can be for people motivated to be their very best. The attached Flyer lays out the significant benefits that result from building strong self-awareness. Great success and fulfillment await.
Please call if you are interested in enrolling in the self-paced online course.
Thank You!
