In past blogs regarding the importance of self-awareness, we have summarized numerous key benefits. For the next few weeks each of our articles will highlight these benefits in some detail. In many of our articles over the last year we have presented evidence pointing to real societal and business weaknesses today creating roadblocks to profitable business growth and regarding our overall sense of well-being. This article will focus on CREATIVITY. Whether within a business context or in our 
personal lives, the essential importance of creativity can’t be overemphasized. In virtually every area and phase of business, the level of creativity we employ determines our level of success. What services or products we provide, how we market and to whom, how we attract and keep top quality employees, and how we maintain our competitiveness are dependent on how creative we are individually and as an organization.
Korn/Ferry, an international consulting firm, considers “creativity” as one of the top eight organizational skills necessary for maintaining competitive advantage.
A family’s ability to juggle family schedules, financial budgeting, social activities and the management of a myriad of other critical family needs (food, shelter and healthcare for example) all depend on the day-to-day creativity virtually all family members, even the youngsters. We see many families functioning harmoniously like a well-oiled machine, and we see many families who collectively always seem to be a step behind the curve…finances in disarray, constant squabbling, having difficulty getting anywhere on time.
Creativity develops and increases based on our level of consciousness, and both are linked to our level of self-awareness. Haven’t we all found ourselves saying, “I had been trying to figure something out seemingly forever, a nagging problem I couldn’t ‘get a handle on’. Then, ‘out of the blue’ the answer hit me; it was so obvious I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t seen it before.”
Quantum physicists and psychologists tell us that the answer to many such problems was always available in what they term “the field of consciousness”, but it took us a growth in our self-awareness – of our consciousness – to access it. Einstein famously stated, “The significant problems we have today cannot be solved at the same level of consciousness that created them in the first place.” He gave us the answer almost a century ago and we just didn’t understand. At higher levels of consciousness many difficulties are effortlessly resolved that seem so puzzling at lower levels of consciousness…at lower levels of self-awareness.
This shows us why people who enjoy high self-awareness seem to glide easily through life with few problems or setbacks. The problems they do encounter seem to be creatively resolved with a minimum of difficulty.
